Custom Dental Bridges
Replace missing teeth and restore your complete, functional smile. At Kingshurst Dental Surgery, we construct high-strength, custom-moulded bridges that look, feel, and function like natural teeth.
Bridge the Gap in Your Smile
A dental bridge is a custom-made restoration used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of a false tooth (or teeth) anchored securely to the natural teeth on either side of the gap.
Replacing missing teeth is crucial not only for your appearance but also for your oral health. A gap can cause adjacent teeth to tilt or drift into the empty space, affecting your bite, chewing ability, and jaw alignment.
High-Precision Digital Scanning
At Kingshurst Dental Surgery, we take scans using comfortable 3D intraoral digital scanners. This eliminates the need for messy impression putties and ensures a highly precise fit for the lab.
-

-

-
Looks Completely Natural
Designed in shade, size, and shape to match your natural smile perfectly.
The Treatment Stages
Restoring your smile with a dental bridge is a comfortable procedure completed over two appointments.
1. Preparation & Scan
Supporting teeth are prepared (shaved) under local anaesthetic if needed. We take comfortable 3D digital scans of your teeth and fit a natural-looking temporary bridge.
2. Laboratory Crafting
We send your 3D digital model directly to our partnered laboratory. Technical ceramists handcraft your custom bridge from the selected materials and shade.
3. Fitting & Bonding
Once ready (1-2 weeks), you return. We remove the temporary bridge, verify the fit, occlusion (bite), and colour of the permanent bridge, and bond it with strong dental cement.
Bridge Aftercare & Care Guidelines
First 48 Hours
-
Avoid Chewing on the Bridge: For the first 24 hours, try to avoid chewing directly on the side of your new bridge. This allows the cement to fully set.
-
Monitor Sensitivity: Mild sensitivity to temperature or pressure is normal for a few days after cementation. This should subside quickly.
-
Avoid Sticky or Hard Foods: Refrain from eating foods like caramels, hard sweets, or nuts which could dislodge your temporary bridge or newly fitted permanent bridge.
General Care & Warnings
-
Meticulous Oral Hygiene: Brush twice daily. Floss carefully around the bridge. Because the false tooth sits flush with your gums, you must use floss threaders (like Superfloss) or interdental brushes to clean under it daily.
-
Use a Nightguard: If you clench or grind your teeth at night (bruxism), wear a custom nightguard. This protects the thin porcelain/zirconia structure of your bridge from fractures under grinding pressure.
-
Check-ups & Loose Warnings: Attend routine check-ups. If your bridge feels loose, or if it feels high when biting, contact KDS immediately. Do not attempt to re-cement it yourself.
What to Watch Out For:
- Persistent Pain: If pain or biting sensitivity lasts more than a few days, contact us for an evaluation.
- Bridge Loosening: If a bridge detaches or feels loose, store the bridge safely and contact us immediately. Do not use household glues.
