Bespoke Brows & Lip Blush
Enhance your natural features with semi-permanent makeup. Wake up every morning with perfectly defined brows and a soft, beautiful tint of lip colour that is smudge-proof and waterproof.
Wake Up with Effortless Beauty
Semi-permanent makeup (SPMU) is a cosmetic tattooing technique where organic, hypoallergenic pigments are carefully deposited into the upper dermal layers of the skin. This offers a highly natural, smudge-proof makeup look that lasts for years, saving you valuable time on your daily beauty routine.
At Kingshurst Dental Surgery in Birmingham, our medically trained aesthetics specialists map your brow contours and lips using precise facial measurements, matching pigment shades to your natural skin tones for the most flattering results.
Medical-Grade Hygiene & Safety
Because we are a dental practice, our infection control standards, sterilization protocols, and clinical hygiene are exceptionally rigorous. You can feel completely reassured that your SPMU treatment is carried out under the highest medical standards.
Microblading & Powder Brows
Microblading creates realistic, hair-like strokes using a fine hand tool, perfect for filling sparse areas. Powder Brows use a cosmetic machine to create a soft, shaded powder makeup effect, ideal for oily skin or more defined brows.
Cosmetic Lip Blush
Deposits a soft tint of organic pigment throughout the lips, defining the natural borders (vermillion border), correcting minor asymmetry, and restoring a healthy flush of colour that mimics a natural lip balm.
The Advantages of Semi-Permanent Makeup
Saves Daily Time
No more filling in brows or reapplying lip liner and lipstick throughout the day. Wake up ready to go.
Fully Smudge-Proof
Completely sweat-proof, waterproof, and smudge-resistant. Perfect for fitness, swimming, and holidays.
Corrects Asymmetry
Balances uneven brow arches or lip borders using precise facial mapping before pigment is applied.
Boosts Colour & Tone
Restores pigment to pale or aging lips and adds natural-looking definition to faint brows.
The Treatment Process
Creating your semi-permanent brows or lip blush is completed over two appointments spaced 6 weeks apart.
1. Mapping & Match
We consult on shape, measure facial landmarks, map the contours, and choose pigment shades. We apply numbing cream to ensure maximum comfort.
2. Initial Session
The pigment is meticulously deposited into the skin. Immediately after treatment, the colour will appear 40-50% darker and brighter than the healed result.
3. Healing Phase
Over the next 7-10 days, the area heals and minor flaking occurs. The colour will lighten and soften significantly during this 4-week window.
4. 6-Week Touch-Up
At your perfecting session, we review the healed pigment retention, fill in any uneven patches, adjust colour depth, and lock in the final result.
SPMU Healing & Aftercare Guide
Healing Phase (Days 1–10)
-
Keep the Area Dry: Avoid splashing water directly onto your brows or lips when showering or washing your face. Gently blot the area clean if needed.
-
Apply Balm Sparingly: Use only the recommended healing ointment provided. Apply a very thin layer (rice-grain size) once or twice daily to prevent drying and cracking.
-
Do NOT Pick or Scratch: Minor flaking and scabbing are completely normal. Never pick, peel, or scratch the flaking skin, as this pulls the pigment out prematurely, causing patchy results.
-
No Makeup or Workouts: Refrain from applying makeup or active skincare products directly on the treated areas. Avoid heavy exercise, as sweat can push the pigment out of the pores.
Special Lip Blush Instructions
-
Use a Straw: For the first 3 to 5 days, drink all liquids (especially coffee, tea, and alcohol) through a straw. Avoid eating highly spicy, salty, or acidic foods.
-
Cold Sore Alert: The lip blush procedure triggers local tissue stimulation. If you have ever had a cold sore (even once), you must take preventative anti-viral medication (like Aciclovir) starting 3 days prior.
-
Avoid Sun & Pools: Avoid direct sun exposure, saunas, steam rooms, and swimming pools for 2 weeks to protect the pigment and prevent infections.
The Healing Cycle:
- Days 1-3: Bold, dark, and potentially swollen.
- Days 4-7: Flaking, peeling, and looking slightly patchy.
- Days 8-28: Lightened, looking like pigment has disappeared (this is normal, it returns soft-tinted by week 4!).
