First 48 Hours
- Wait for numbness to wear off before eating — the anaesthetic can take up to 4 hours. Avoid biting your cheek or tongue while numb.
- Avoid chewing on the treated side for the first few hours to allow the filling to settle and fully harden.
- Some sensitivity is normal — you may notice sensitivity to hot, cold or pressure. This usually settles within a few days.
- Eat soft foods such as yogurt, mashed potatoes, and soup for the first day or two. Avoid hard, sticky or chewy foods.
General Care
- Continue your normal oral hygiene — brush and floss as usual, but be gentle around the new filling for the first couple of days.
- Check your bite — if the filling feels too high or uncomfortable when you bite down, contact us. It may just need a quick adjustment.
- Pain relief — ibuprofen can help if you experience discomfort. Follow dosage instructions and avoid aspirin as it can increase bleeding.
